drinking cacao at events

Cacao is chocolate in its natural form. It’s a natural plant medicine from the Amazon rainforest and records of it being used date to the first civilisation of the rainforest - the Olmecs. Since then it’s become know as the ‘food of the Gods’ for its powerful effects and health benefits as well as being so delicious to drink.

It is a loving and gentle experience with plenty of benefits - it can boost energy, enhance focus, reduce stress levels, help to improve your mood (great for mental health support), create a gentle state of bliss as well as supporting opening connection to heart (my fav thing about it).

I’d like to make you aware of a few reasons which might mean it’s best for you not to drink Cacao at this time.

Contraindications, reasons to not drink Cacao:

  • if you are taking anti-depressant or anti-psychotic medication

  • if you are pregnant or breast-feeding & don't drink Cacao regularly

  • if you have any heart concerns/conditions (Cacao can increase heart rate & lower blood pressure)

  • if you are sensitive to caffeine (contains less than coffee & slower release)

  • sensitive or allergic to Theobromine (stimulates the cardiovascular system)

If any of these are relevant to you it is best to avoid drinking cacao or check with your doctor/health advisor first

Cacao dose

I use a ceremonial grade of Cacao. The amount that we work with will depend on the event. Details will be provided before the event or please contact me for more information. Everyone is different. Generally an amount suitable to consume everyday is around 15-20g per person & a full ‘ceremonial’ dose is around 40g.

Alternative options

Drinking Cacao at the event is optional and you do so at your choosing (disclaimer below). An alternative drink can be provided by prior arrangement, please contact me to arrange: amanda@letsstepin.com.

Recommendations before drinking Cacao

  • be hydrated, drink plenty of water the day before and on the day

  • avoid drinking coffee on the same day, reduce your caffeine intake

  • take it slow! If you don’t like it you can always stop drinking
